How We Do It

Empowerment

The Lemon Aide Society grows strong and confident female leaders. Our girls actively learn about themselves and their ability to make a difference in our community through mentorship, project leadership, teamwork and community service. In addition to increased self-confidence and self-esteem, our program promotes life skills such as goal setting, effective communication, problem solving, informed decision making, project planning and implementation and relationship building.

Leadership

Our program fosters leadership identity through our unique mentorship program. Girls rotate as project leaders giving them the opportunity to take ownership of a service project. Lemon Aides discover personal strengths by guiding their group in planning, decision making, implementing and evaluating their service projects. By the time that our girls enter high school, they have a unique leadership style and the skill set to effectively work with diverse sets of individuals and groups.

Service

Service is the vehicle by which our Lemon Aides cultivate their leadership skills. Girls come together each month, led by a project leader, to learn about a specific need in our community; identify ways to address that need; and participate in a service project. Through meaningful engagement with one another and their community, Lemon Aides gain a deeper understanding of social justice. At a young age, our Lemon Aides are growing into confident and strong female leaders.
